Grand Canyon

In my Mom's ward there is a lady, Annette Webster, who Kelly was visit teaching and they were talking about the Grand Canyon and how she had never been there before. Annette has a cabin just East of Cedar City that is about 45 minutes away from the Grand Canyon so she told Kelly that she would take her. Well the trip really got planned and I was invited to go since I hadn't been either and of course because it would be more fun for Kelly instead of just going with my Mom and this sweet old lady who had offered her cabin to us! We got dinner in Cedar City and drove to the cabin to eat. It was a cute little cabin that Annette's husband and his family share. We woke up the next morning and Annette cooked us breakfast and then we headed off to the Grand Canyon.

Yes, we are really smelling this tree. It is a Maple Tree and it really smelled like syrup. It was so crazy and smelled good.

We went to the North Rim where Grand Canyon Lodge is. Annette used to work here when she was younger. It is where she met her husband and she came here every year with him. Now that he has passed, she still comes every year and does the same thing that they used to do when her and her husband came together. It is the sweetest thing.

Annette volunteered here every Summer for a long time. She is in the above picture, the fourth from the left, waiting for guests to arrive.
We walked to Angel's Point and on a clear day you can see South Rim buildings! That is so crazy to me that you can see that far. It was a beautiful sight and we loved just sitting and looking. At the Lodge, there was an area that you could go outside and sit in a chair and just hang out with this beautiful backdrop.

While ate lunch here and met this cute girl and her Father who were from France, they joined us for lunch. They were here touring America. They were so fun to talk to. I loved the accents. I can't remember her name, but she was so sweet. We talked for probably an hour.

After lunch we headed to Angel's Window. It was a short drive from where we were. A short walk and you can walk right onto this part that juts out into the canyon. It was so cool!

Woodpecker holes!

This is the Colorado River that you can see from Angel's Window.

A little lizard on our trail. They were all over at Angel's Window.

The pictures below are of a plateau that you can see while at Angel's Window. It was so cool to see. Completely flat and so different then looking at the Grand Canyon.

After Angel's Window, we headed back to the Grand Canyon Lodge and ate dinner. It isn't a very big restaurant so we got reservations, but it sure was good. We had great seating right next to the window so we could still view the Grand Canyon while we ate.

Pretty sunset as we were driving away. We stayed the night in Kamas.

Before we headed home, we at at Houston's Trail's End. It was really good. It was a great trip and I am so glad I was able to go and spend that time with my Mom and Kelly.
